Steel and aluminum drive rivets are used to install sign panels onto square steel posts.
The holes in the sign panel are lined up with the pre-punched holes in the post and the drive rivet into holes in the sign panel and post. With a hammer, the protruding pin is driven flush with the top of the rivet, securing the sign to the post. Removal is difficult, and has to be done with a punch working the rivet out from the back side.
Jumbo head steel and aluminum drive rivets are stocked here at Traffic Supply, Inc. They have a head width of 1" and include a nylon washer which serves to both protect the face of the sign panel and to help pull it up tight to the post. The wider head may help prevent the sign panel from tearing off of the post in windy locations.
